Your Home Japan (“we”) respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Contact details you give us (name, email, phone, messaging IDs); your search requests (areas, budget, home type, move-in date, residency status); messages sent through inquiry forms; and, for partner agents, profile and listing data. We do not collect payment card details on this site.
2. How we use it
To reply to inquiries and viewing requests; to find and propose properties that match your requests; to pass your inquiry to the agent or company handling a listing; to run and improve the site; and to meet legal obligations.
3. Sharing with third parties
We share your information only with the listing agent or licensed real estate company needed to answer your inquiry, with service providers under confidentiality duties (hosting, email), or when required by law. We do not sell personal information.
4. Transfers outside Japan
Some providers or agents may process data outside Japan. Where we do so, we take steps required by the APPI to keep your information protected.
5. Local storage and cookies
This site stores your language, saved homes, saved searches and calculator settings in your browser (local storage) so they persist between visits. You can clear them anytime in your browser settings. We do not use them for advertising.
6. Retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymise it. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
7. Your rights
You may request disclosure, correction, deletion or suspension of use of your personal information held by us. We will respond within a reasonable period after confirming your identity.
